A cutler is a person who is experienced in sharpening knives and who does this as a profession.

The most important factor about knife sharpening is to maintain a perfect edge each and every time the blade passes over the wheels. This is done efficiently, effectively and precisely, using the Catra professional sharpening machines. We have used this equipment for 15 years now, and swear by it.

The sharpening angle produced by this equipment is 30 degrees. I.E.15 degrees on either side of the blade.

What is the importance of sharpening a knife?

When a knife blade is blunt or dull, it requires more pressure to cut, making it more likely to slip. With the increased force behind it, an injury is very likely. 

Properly sharpened knives can bite the surface more readily and make cutting far safer.

It is essential that knives be kept sharp so that they can do their job without slippage.
